About Us

CARIng For Legacies was founded when Cari began mentoring pregnant women who were anxious about childbirth, and wanted advice on how to achieve a satisfying birthing experience. After lending her guidance she knew then that her purpose was to help women have the best birth experience possible by becoming the maternal sounding board and safe haven that many women need. Cari recognized that in order to have further reach, she needed a team. Cari transitioned her independent business to a doula agency and shared her platform with other women to pursue their calling and passion to serve women.

When I became pregnant with my oldest daughter, I was uncertain and anxious about the unknowns of childbirth. When my mother became my unofficial doula during pregnancy and labor, she provided me physical, emotional and informational support that assisted me in having the natural birth experience that I wanted. All of the wisdom that my mother passed down to me (i.e. herbal remedies and best practices), she learned from her mother who acted as a lay midwife to her community out of love and necessity during the racially divided 1960’s.

I felt a new sense of strength after delivering my children and wanted to impart in other women the legacy I was so fortunate to inherit. With that said, I am excited to provide this time-tested service to women to ensure that they have the most satisfying outcome while birthing out their legacies.

I have been a lay doula for 30-plus years and assisted black midwives in my community. My interest developed when I had my four (4) children at home.

What I learned through my experience of giving birth was the science behind the birthing process. I assisted my daughters, goddaughters, and sisters through their natural childbirth process without medical intervention.  I believe it is a wonderful experience sharing the birthing process with those you love.

I am passionate about supporting black and brown women in my community. I appreciate and value every woman that has allowed me to be a part of this special and sacred moment.

I am a happy wife of nearly 24 years and a loving mother of 3 adult children.

Being a labor doula is truly a combination of my own experiences of having three healthy pregnancies and deliveries along with my ProDoula Training that gives me the knowledge I need to become your Doula. Every birth is as unique as the people who are involved, and I am honored and humbled every day to be a part of this amazing work.

As a professional Doula, it is my desire to empower and encourage women to have healthy natural birth experiences. As well as, to become a loyal and compassionate instructor that will provide continual personalized support, comfort and information during the labor and birth process.

I feel very blessed to be asked by couples, women and families to join them during the intimate and transformative experience of birth.

My journey to becoming a doula began when I became pregnant with my 2 boys and I had both of them naturally. I felt the calling back then that I would support and serve women in my community. I was trained by the National Black Doulas Association and became a Certified Labor & Delivery Doula in February 2021. Shortly thereafter, I began to be mentored by Cari from Caring for Legacies. I aligned myself with Caring for Legacies vision to advocate for women and their families in our communities. I have extensive first-hand experience, intense training modules, self-education, and subsequently one-on-one mentorship. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to be a voice for the women who feel voiceless as well as those who are simply uninformed. My goal is to ensure that every woman while birthing her legacy, is truly supported!
